Frequently asked questions

Can I sleep in a motorhome on a car park in Croatia?+

No. Merely spending the night in a motorhome at the roadside or in a public car park already counts as camping and is banned nationwide; it is allowed only on campsites (Zakon o ugostiteljskoj djelatnosti, Art. 29 and 52).

What are the fines?+

190 to 1,320 euros. The tourism inspector can collect 130 euros of it on the spot.

Does that apply at the roadside too?+

Yes – at the roadside as in a public car park, spending the night in a motorhome counts as camping.

Where do I find legal places in Croatia?+

On campsites. On the Place me map, car parks get the national rule and show red; the “Legal” filter hides them.

The information comes from OpenStreetMap and from campers. Check signs and bans on site – the light is guidance, not legal advice. Caraplace accepts no liability for accuracy or currency; you stay at your own risk.

Only legal places on the map

The “Legal” filter shows only places with a green or amber light – official stopovers, campsites, farms and car parks in regions that allow or tolerate overnight stays.
