Frequently asked questions

Poland: what applies to sleeping in a motorhome?+

In Poland you may sleep in a lawfully parked vehicle, but the 'Zanocuj w lesie' programme expressly covers only tents, hammocks and bivvy bags. In forests, bivouacking is allowed only at designated places and the vehicle must stay in the nearest forest car park, fines up to 5000 zloty (Ustawa o lasach Art. 30, Kodeks wykroczeń Art. 161).

Poland: does the national rule apply everywhere?+

Place me applies it to all car parks and community spots in the country; we have not yet verified any regional rules. Signs on site and municipal by-laws always take precedence.

Poland: where do I find places for the night?+

On the Place me map: official stopovers and campsites are green; car parks and community spots get the national rule. The “Legal” filter hides red spots.

The information comes from OpenStreetMap and from campers. Check signs and bans on site – the light is guidance, not legal advice. Caraplace accepts no liability for accuracy or currency; you stay at your own risk.

Only legal places on the map

The “Legal” filter shows only places with a green or amber light – official stopovers, campsites, farms and car parks in regions that allow or tolerate overnight stays.
