The light applies to car parks and community places. Official stopovers, campsites and farms are always allowed – staying overnight is what they are for.
Neither the KRESZ road traffic rules nor the Petty Offences Act contains a 'camping' offence, so sleeping in a lawfully parked vehicle is not punishable. Only the parking violation is fined, 15,600 forints on the spot, about 40 euros, and in forests a stay beyond 24 hours needs the forest manager's consent (Forest Act Art. 93); municipalities may issue their own bans.
