Can I sleep in my motorhome? Rule for Wales Tolerated
The light applies to car parks and community places. Official aires, campsites and farms are allowed if they take motorhomes – staying overnight is what they are for.
In Wales, access rights cover neither the tent nor the vehicle, and wild camping needs the landowner's permission (CROW Act 2000, Sch. 2). No general law bans sleeping in a lawfully parked vehicle, though councils can prohibit it locally; residing on someone else's land with a vehicle without consent, even temporarily, and causing significant damage or disruption is an offence if you do not leave when asked (CJPOA 1994, s. 60C).
